PlatinumShield™ Coating FAQs
FAQs
Q: What is the PlatinumShield™ coating?
A: PlatinumShield™ coating is an improved metal coating.
It is highly resistant to abrasion and corrosion. Currently, PlatinumShield™
coating is available on Meritor® remanufactured brake shoes to fight
the industry problem of “rust-jacking.”
Q: What are the part numbers for the brake shoes and kits with PlatinumShield™
coating?
A: Part numbers have not changed. Brake shoe coating will transition
from the current black dip paint to PlatinumShield™ on a running change basis.
Q: What does the 3-Year/300,000-Mile warranty cover?
A: The warranty covers only the replacement of any Meritor®
remanufactured lined brake shoe with PlatinumShield™ coating that exhibits
rust-jacking corrosion and rust-jacking lining cracks within the 3-Year/300,000-Mile
period.
Q: Will PlatinumShield™ coating be available on all brake shoes remanufactured
by Meritor®?
A: All remanufactured brake shoes, except those with price point
brake lining and customer private label, will have PlatinumShield™ coating.
The chart below illustrates which shoes will have PlatinumShield™ coating.
